The ideal dessert to surprise your loved one on February 14th: Red Velvet Cookies.
Ingredients
Method
- 1.Sift all the dry ingredients together.
- 2.In a separate bowl, mix the room temperature egg, milk, and 1 teaspoon of red food coloring.
- 3.Add the room temperature butter and the prepared red liquid to the dry ingredients, mixing and kneading until a dough forms.
- 4.Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (it can also be left overnight).
- 5.Once the dough is completely chilled, form walnut-sized balls and coat them thoroughly in powdered sugar.
- 6.Place the sugar-coated balls spaced apart on parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (top and bottom heat, middle rack) for 12 minutes.
Notes
- Make sure the cocoa powder is not dark, otherwise you will get a dark reddish-brown color instead of a rich red.
- The food coloring should be liquid, like water.
- Do not shake off the excess powdered sugar from the dough so that a beautiful contrast is formed when they crack.
